Service Science, Management and Engineering (SSME) is a new multi-disciplinary research and academic effort that integrates aspects of established fields such as computer science, operations research, engineering, management sciences, business strategy, social and cognitive sciences, and legal sciences.
Global markets are shifting from agriculture and manufacturing to service-based economies and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics employment projections forecast that employment growth will continue to be concentrated in the service-providing sector of the economy. With major industrialized nations now more than 75% services and developing nations close behind, governments and industry need talent and skills in the service arena.
