What can we do get from ITIL..

My company had many problems in this year, So my senior manager considered those reasons and decided to seperate the IT operation team as two parts, develop part and operation part.

This was always gap in IT audit. IT auditor pointed this gap but my manager didn't take a action because our organization's human resources.
Although there were no changes in IT organization, Why did managers take the action?

In my thoughts,They realized the importance of IT process and IT control.
Until the seperation,my manager ignored the IT process.They thought if we have good IT process and documentation,Someone easily takes our knowledge and take our position.

This reasons made my organization be nonefficient and passive.
Thesedays there are many methods to make process good like CMMI, ISO, ITIL.

By improving the IT processes, the organization can get the benefit below
1.Improve resource utilization
2.Be more competitive
3.Decrease rework
4.Eliminate redundant work
5.Improve upon project deliverables and time
6.Improve availability, reliability and security of mission critical IT services
7.Justify the cost of service quality
8.Provide services that meet business, customer and user demands
9.Integrate central processes
10.Document and communicate roles and responsibilities in service provision
11.Learn from previous experience
12.Provide demonstrable performance indicators

I'm working make good IT process in my IT organizations.
Now, There are some workers who deny the changes because of being afraid of being deprived of their jobs.
But, Change the process may be big trends in IT organizations.
